  • A4 Map Notebook
A4 pages laid out for drawing and labelling maps
Why we picked it

Map homework arrives with a coastline, a handful of labels and an arrow for the wind, and it always lands the night before. On a normal notebook page the Gulf comes out squeezed against the gutter and the labels end up in the margin in handwriting the size of an ant. These pages are A4 and laid out for map work, so the shape gets room and the names go beside the places they belong to. Geography is one of the few subjects where the paper shows up in the mark.

— The Ghalyh team · How we pick

Good for

Labelled maps for geography homework · sketching regions and borders for revision · projects that need a clean full-page map

Not for

A year with no geography on the timetable — then it's a notebook bought for pages you won't use, and a plain A4 does more. It's also too big to live in a small bag.

Questions people ask

Why A4 and not the usual A5?

Maps need width. A country squeezed onto A5 loses the coastline detail and leaves nowhere for names — and A4 is the size homework gets handed in at anyway.

Do we still need coloured pencils?

Yes — the notebook gives you the page, not the shading. Rivers, borders and the key are still your job.
