Printing at home is the easy half. The cutting is where the job looks homemade: scissors drift, a craft knife skates off the ruler, and a sheet of price tags comes out with one edge that isn't parallel to anything. A rotary trimmer takes the aim out of it — the blade rides in a rail, so the cut goes where the rail goes. A3 means a long sheet is trimmed in one pass instead of cutting halfway and lining it up again. It works a few sheets at a time, not a ream.

Straighter than a ruler and knife?
The difference is that nothing is being aimed. The blade can only travel along the rail, so your hand can't wander mid-cut — which is where most crooked edges come from.
Can it cut card and laminated sheets?
Thin card and laminate go one sheet at a time, slowly. Thick board doesn't — force it and you dull the blade instead of cutting the line.
