Four of the big director's chairs fill a boot before anything else goes in. The compact kind packs down to the size of a rolled towel each, so six of them ride in one corner and the grill, the water and the lantern still fit. Wide feet matter more than cushioning out there — a narrow leg drills into sand and you end up sitting at an angle — so we chose one built for soft ground.
